I specialize in working with men and marriages helping individuals and couples connect with their hearts and each other. I want to help counselees and couples reach those elusive and harder to find pockets of pain that can wreak havoc in our lives and relationships if left unaddressed.

I grew up in Northern California in the San Francisco Bay Area (long before what it is today) and went to college at the University of California, San Diego earning a bachelor's of arts in Sociology.  

I have been married for going on 30 years to my wife Suzy and I have three grown children all of whom have grown up here in Phoenix/Scottsdale through the Paradise Valley Unified School District (PVUSD) where my wife is also a Spanish teacher and department head.  

I love hiking, backpacking, camping, skiing, traveling, golf and tennis, movies, building things (I built my own putting green and hot tub!) and have been involved in the community through Boy Scouts, Little League, politics and church.  

Prior to becoming a therapist, I have had a 30-year long career in Information Technology where my passion has always been leading and guiding people and helping them be successful and grow (more so than the bits and bytes of making IT work).  I love troubleshooting hard problems and building new solutions. 

After 30 years in I.T., I finally went back to school to pursue my passion of getting my Master of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary.  I have several years of counseling men and walking engaged couples through "Prepare and Enrich" at my local church here in Scottsdale as well as many years of leading couples' small groups. I also have my board certification as a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT) from the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (AZBBHE).  

I have a passion for healthy relationships and connection and helping others as they pursue the same.  I have been deeply affected by great individual and marriage counseling and men's ministries in my life like "Wild at Heart" over the years and have seen personally the difference therapy and counseling can make.

I have been an educator for over 30 years, in both primary (K-8) and secondary (high school) education, primarily as a Spanish language teacher.  I stayed home with my kids for around 10 years when they were younger.  I have been married for almost 30 years to my college sweetheart Scott, and I have three children one who works in journalism, another who is studying construction management and our third is interested in joining the military, hopefully the Air Force/Space Force. 

I love working with people. One of my main interests is international travel which I'm able to do with groups of students through a reputable student travel company.  I have been to England, Italy, Greece, Japan, Cost Rica, Peru, Spain, Eastern Europe and many other interesting places with my students and children.  

I love hiking, reading and being around water.  I love going to the beach in San Diego and seeing the sea lions and sea otters in La Jolla and relax at Lake Tahoe with my family in the summer. 

I have learned valuable skills in my marriage and experienced incredible personal healing and growth through marriage, family and individual therapy.  I know counseling can help you too!  I am happy to walk you through the process especially if this is your first time seeking counseling.
